விண்வெளியை சுத்தப்படுத்தும் செயற்கைகோள்

நட்பு
நாளொரு பொழுதாய்
நடைமுறை உலகை
நானும் அவளும்
காணப் புறப்பட்டோம்.
நல்ல நண்பர்களாய்…
ஒரு நாள்…
நிலவை ரசிக்க நினைத்தோம்.
ஆனால்..
இரவுவரை தனித்திருக்கும்
தைரியம் நமக்கிருக்கவில்லை.
நிலவு வரும் வரை நாமிருக்க
நம் கலாச்சார கண்களும்
நம்மை விட்டுவைக்கவில்லை.
இன்னொரு நாள்…
கடற்கரை சென்று
காலாற நடந்து
காற்று வாங்க நினைத்தோம்.
ஆனால்…
நம் கைகளைக் கோர்த்தபடி
காலடி பதித்து
அலை நுரை ரசிக்க முடியவில்லை.
அவள் தடுமாறி
அலைக்குள் விழுந்த போதும்
என்னால் அவளை
அணைக்க முடியவில்லை.
கடலோ அவளை நனைத்துப் போனது.
மூழ்கப் போனவளை
மீட்டு வந்தது கண்டும்
எங்களுக்குள் ஊடல் என்று
ஊர் சொன்னது.
அலை கூட அப்போது
நுரை நுரையாய் சிரித்தது.
காற்றும் ஏதோ
கிசு கிசுவென்று கிசுகிசுத்தது.
மழை நாளொன்றில்..
ஒரு குடைக்குள் எங்களால்
நிற்க முடியவில்லை.
நட்பு நனையாதிருக்க
எங்களில் ஒருவர்
மழையில்
நனைய வேண்டியதாயிற்று.
அப்போதெல்லாம்
நட்பு அழுதது.
ஊரோ
துளித்துளியாய் சிரித்தது.
எத்தனையை சுமந்து
நட்பைக் காத்த போதும்
அவன் வாசல்ப் படி வரைக்குமே
என்னால் பயணிக்க முடிகிறது
நட்பையும் நம்மையும் காப்பாற்றியபடி
நட்சத்திரங்களை எண்ணியபோது
அருந்ததி வெள்ளி காட்டுவதாய்
சொன்னார்கள்
அவள் காலில்
முள் எடுத்த போது
மெட்டி மாட்டுவதாய்
சொன்னார்;கள்.
இத்தனைக்குப் பின்னும்
எங்கள் நட்பு
செத்துப் போகவில்லை.
உள்ளமும் கெட்டுப் போகவில்லை.
ஆனால்
எனக்கு
மணமகள் பார்த்த போதும்
அவளுக்கு
மணமகன் பார்த்த போதும்
சில வாய்கள் சொன்னதை
எங்கள் செவிகள் கேட்டபோது
ஆறாம் அறிவு
கொஞ்சம் சிந்தித்தது
நட்பை ஏற்காத உலகில்
என்றும் நண்பர்களாய்
வாழ நினைத்ததால்..
அவளுக்கு
இப்போது வாய்க்கட்டு
எனக்கு

நட்பு மட்டும் ராஐ நடை போடுகிறது

நீண்ட நேரம் கம்ப்யூட்டர் பார்ப்பவர்களுக்கு தூக்கம் பறிபோகும்

இணைய இணைப்பு டவுண் ஆனால்
இன்டர்நெட் இணைப்பு கிடைக்காமல் டவுண் ஆவது என்பது நமக்கு தும்மல் வருவது போல. தும்மலையாவது ஒரு சில காரணங்களுக்காகக் கட்டாயம் வரும் என எதிர்பார்க்கலாம்.
ஆனால் இன்டர்நெட் இணைப்பு எப்போது கட் ஆகும்; மீண்டும் எப்போது வரும் எனச் சொல்ல முடியாது. பொதுவாக இது போல கட் ஆனால், உடனே கம்ப்யூட்டரை ரீபூட் செய்து பார்க்கிறோம்.
நமக்கு இன்டர்நெட் சர்வீஸ் வசதி தரும் நிறுவனத்தைத் திட்டித் தீர்க்கிறோம். கட்டிய காசு தீர்ந்தவுடன் முதலில் இவனை மாற்றினால் தான் நிம்மதி என்கிறோம். இருப்பினும் கீழ்க்காணும் விஷயங்களையும் செய்து பார்க்கலாமே!
1. வேறு எதனையும் செய்வதற்கு முன்னால், உங்கள் மோடத் தினை மீண்டும் ரீபூட் செய்திடுங்கள். ஒன்றுமில்லை, அதற்கு வரும் மின்சக்தியை நிறுத்தி சில நொடிகள் கழித்து மீண்டும் ஆன் செய்திடுங்கள். பின் உங்கள் ரூட்டரை ஆன் செய்திடுங்கள்.
2. உங்களுக்கு ரூட்டர் வழி இணைப்பு இல்லை என்றால் கம்ப்யூட்டரை ரீ பூட் செய்திடுங்கள். அதன் பின் கேபிள் மோடத்தினை பூட் செய்திடுங்கள்
3. மோடத்தில் விளக்குகள் எரிந்து டேட்டா பரிமாற்ற விளக்குகள் சிமிட்டத் தொடங்கினால் இன்டர்நெட் இணைப்பு வந்துவிட்டது என்று பொருள். அனைத்து விளக்குகளும் எரியவில்லை என்றால் உங்கள் இணைப்பிற்கான கேபிள்கள் அனைத்தும் சரியாகப் பொருத்தப்பட்டிருப்பதனை உறுதி செய்திடுங்கள்.
அதன் பின் உங்களுக்கு இணைப்பு தந்துள்ள நிறுவனத்தின் கஸ்டமர் சர்வீஸ் எண்ணுக்கு போன் செய்திடுங்கள். அதற்கு முன் அவரிடம் எது போன்ற குறை என்று சொல்ல வேண்டும் என்பதனைத் தீர்மானித்து வைத்துக் கொள்ளுங்கள்.
4. ஸ்டார்ட் ரன் அழுத்தி பாக்ஸில் cmd என டைப் செய்து என்டர் தட்டவும். உங்கள் திரையில் கறுப்பு பாக்ஸில் டாஸ் இயக்கம் கிடைக்கும். அங்கு துடிக்கும் கர்சரில் Ipconfig /all என டைப் செய்திடுங்கள். உங்களுடைய default gateway மற்றும் DNS servers அறிந்து கொள்ளுங்கள். பின் இவற்றிற்கு கட்டளை கொடுத்துப் பாருங்கள். பதில் கிடைக்கிறதா?
5. இவை அனைத்தும் உங்கள் இணைப்பைத் தராவிட்டால், traceroute எனக் கொடுத்துப் பார்த்தால் எங்கு பிரச் சினை ஏற்பட்டு இணைப்பு அறுந்து போகிறது என்று தெரியும். traceroute என்பது ஒரு கட்டளைச் சொல். உங்கள் கம்ப்யூட்டரிலிருந்து தகவல்கள் ஒரு பாக்கெட்டாக எங்கு எங்கு செல்கின்றன என்று காட்டச் சொல்லும் ஒரு கட்டளை.
traceroute எனக் கொடுத்து பின் ஒரு ஸ்பேஸ் கொடுத்து உங்களுக்குச் சிக்கலைத் தரும் தளத்தின் முழு முகவரியைத் தர வேண்டும். பொதுவாக ஒரு தளம் கிடைக்கவில்லை என் றால் இது போல traceroute மற்றும் ping கட்டளைகள் கொடுத்துப் பார்த்துவிட்டுப் பின் இன்டர் நெட் சேவை தரும் நிறுவனத்தைத் தொடர்பு கொள்ளுங்கள். நிறுவனத்தின் சர்வரில் பிரச்சினை இருந்தால் அவர்கள் உடனே கவனித்துச் சரி செய்வார்கள்.
ஆனால் இன்டர்நெட் இணைப்பு எப்போது கட் ஆகும்; மீண்டும் எப்போது வரும் எனச் சொல்ல முடியாது. பொதுவாக இது போல கட் ஆனால், உடனே கம்ப்யூட்டரை ரீபூட் செய்து பார்க்கிறோம்.
நமக்கு இன்டர்நெட் சர்வீஸ் வசதி தரும் நிறுவனத்தைத் திட்டித் தீர்க்கிறோம். கட்டிய காசு தீர்ந்தவுடன் முதலில் இவனை மாற்றினால் தான் நிம்மதி என்கிறோம். இருப்பினும் கீழ்க்காணும் விஷயங்களையும் செய்து பார்க்கலாமே!

Boot up with DOS and delete the sam.exe and sam.log files from Windows\system32\config in your hard drive. Now when you boot up in NT the password on your built-in administrator account which will be blank (i.e No password). This solution works only if your hard drive is FAT kind.
Step 2
Step 1. Put your hard disk of your computer in any other pc .
Step 2. Boot that computer and use your hard disk as a secondary hard disk (D'nt boot as primary hard disk ).
Step 3. Then open that drive in which the victim’s window(or your window) is installed.
Step 4. Go to location windows->system32->config
Step 5. And delete SAM.exe and SAM.log
Step 6. Now remove hard disk and put in your computer.
Step 7. And boot your computer

திருக்குறள்
தமிழில் உள்ள நூல்களிலேயே சிறப்பிடம் பெற்ற நூல் திருக்குறள்.
இது அடிப்படையில் ஒரு வாழ்வியல் நூல். மனித வாழ்வின் முக்கிய அங்கங் களாகிய அறம் அல்லது தர்மம், பொருள், இன்பம் அல்லது காமம் ஆகியவற்றைப் பற்றி விளக்கும் நூல்.
இந்நூலை இயற்றியவர் திருவள்ளுவர். இவருடைய இயற்பெயர் என்ன என்பதுவும் மேற்கொண்ட விபரங்களும் சரிவரத்தெரியவில்லை. இவரைப்பற்றிச் செவிவழிமரபாகச் சில செய்திகள் விளங்குகின்றன. ஆனால் அறுதியான வரலாறு கிடையாது. அந்தச் செய்திகளின் வாயிலாகப்பெறும் தகவல்களின்படி, இவர் வள்ளுவ மரபைச்சேர்ந்தவர் என்றும், மயிலாப்பூரில் வசித்தவர் என்றும் தெரிகிறது; இவருடைய மனைவியார் வாசுகி அம்மையார்.கற்பியலுக்கு மிகச்சிறந்த இலக்கணமாக விளங்கியவர். வள்ளுவர் தாம் எழுதிய முப்பால் நூலை தமிழ்ச்சங்கத்தில் அரங்கேற்றம் செய்ய மிகவும் சிரமப்பட்டதாகவும், முடிவில் ஒளவையாரின் துணையோடு அரங்கேற்றியதாகவும் அச்செய்திகள் வாயிலாக அறிகிறோம்.
திருவள்ளுவரை நாயனார், தேவர், தெய்வப்புலவர், பெருநாவலர், பொய்யில் புலவர் என்றும் சில சிறப்புப்பெயர்களால் அழைப்பர்.
பிற்காலத்தில் திருவள்ளுவர் பெயரால் வேறு சிலநூல்களை வேறு சிலர் இயற்றியுள்ளனர். அவை சித்தர் இலக்கியத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவை.
திருக்குறள் இயற்றப்பட்ட காலம் இன்னும் சரியாக வரையறுக்கப்படவில்லை. கிருஸ்துவ சகாப்தத்தின் முன் பகுதியைச் சேர்ந்ததாகப் பலர் கருதுவர்.
பழந்தமிழ் நூல்களில் நான்கு பெரும் பகுப்புக்கள் உள்ளன.
1.எட்டுத்தொகை, பத்துப்பாட்டு ஆகியவை அடங்கிய பதினென்மேல்கணக்கு
2.பதினென்கீழ்க்கணக்கு
3.ஐம்பெருங்காப்பியங்கள்
4.ஐஞ்சிறு காப்பியங்கள்
ஆகியவை அவை.
அவற்றில் பதினென்கீழ்க்கணக்கு எனப்படும் பதினெட்டு நூல்களின் வரிசையில் “முப்பால்” என்னும் பெயரோடு இந்நூல் விளங்குகின்றது.
“அறம், பொருள், இன்பம்”, ஆகிய மூன்று பால்களும் கொண்டமையால் “முப்பால்” எனப் பெயர் பெற்றது. முப்பால்களாகிய ஆகிய இவை ஒவ்வொன்றும் “இயல்” என்னும் பகுதிகளாக மேலும் பகுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. ஒவ்வொரு இயலும் சில குறிப்பிட்ட அதிகாரங்களைக் கொண்டதாக விளங்குகின்றது. ஒவ்வொரு அதிகாரமும் பத்துபாடல்களைத் தன்னுள் அடக்கியது.
இப்பாடல்கள் அனைத்துமே குறள் வெண்பா என்னும் வெண்பா வகையைச் சேர்ந்தவை. இவ்வகை வெண்பாக்களால் ஆகிய அக்காலத்திய முதல் நூலும் ஒரே நூலும் இதுதான்.
குறள் வெண்பாக்களால் ஆனமையால் “குறள்’ என்றும் “திருக்குறள்” என்றும் இது பெயர் பெற்றது.
“பாயிரம்” என்னும் பகுதியுடன் முதலில் “அறத்துப்பால்” வருகிறது. அதிலும் முதலில் காணப்படுவது , “கடவுள் வாழ்த்து” என்னும் அதிகாரம். தொடர்ந்து, “வான் சிறப்பு”, “நீத்தார் பெருமை”, “அறன் வலியுறுத்தல்”, ஆகிய அதிகாரங்கள்.
அடுத்துவரும் “இல்லறவியல்” என்னும் இயலில் 25 அதிகாரங்கள்; அடுத்துள்ள துறவறவியலில் 13 அதிகாரங்களுடன் முதற்பாலாகிய அறத்துப்பால் பகுதி முடிவுறுகிறது.
அடுத்து வரும் “பொருட்பாலி”ல் அரசு இயல், அமைச்சு இயல், ஒழிபு இயல் ஆகிய இயல்கள் இருக்கின்றன. அரசு இயலில் 25 அதிகாரங்கள் உள்ளன. அமைச்சு இயலில் 32 அதிகாரங்களும், ஒழிபு இயலில் 13 அதிகாரங்களும் உள்ளன.
கடைசிப்பாலாகிய “இன்பத்துப்பால்” அல்லது “காமத்துப்பாலி”ல் இரண்டு இயல்கள்; களவியலில் 7 அதிகாரங்களும், கற்பியலில் 18 அதிகாரங்களும் உள்ளன. ஆகமொத்தம் 7 இயல்கள்; 133 அதிகாரங்கள்; 1330 பாடல்கள்.
திருக்குறளை மொத்தம் 12000 சொற்களில் வள்ளுவர் பாடியுள்ளார். ஆனால் இவற்றில் ஐம்பதுக்கும் குறைவான வடசொற்களே உள்ளன.
“அகரம் முதல வெழுத்தெல்லாம் ஆதி
பகவன் முதற்றே யுலகு….”
என்று தமிழ் நெடுங்கணக்கின் முதல் எழுத்தாகிய “அ” வில் ஆரம்பித்து, 1330 ஆம் குறளாகிய,
“ஊடுதல் காமத்திற்கின்பம்; அதற்கின்பம்,
கூடி முயங்கப்பெறின்”
என்று தமிழ் மொழியின் கடைசி எழுத்தாகிய “ன்” னுடன் முடித்திருக்கிறார்.
வாழ்வியலின் எல்லா அங்கங்களையும் திருக்குறள் கூறுவதால், அதைச் சிறப்பித்துப் பல பெயர்களால் அழைப்பர்: திருக்குறள், முப்பால், உத்தரவேதம், தெய்வநூல், பொதுமறை, பொய்யாமொழி, வாயுறை வாழ்த்து, தமிழ் மறை, திருவள்ளுவம் என்ற பெயர்கள் அதற்குரியவை.
பழங்காலத்தில் இதற்குப் பலர் உரை எழுதியுள்ளனர். அவற்றில் புகழ் வாய்ந்ததாக விளங்குவதும் அதிகமாகப் பயன்படுத்தப்பட்டதும் பரிமேலழகர் உரைதான். தற்காலத்திலும் பலர் உரை எழுதியுள்ளனர். அவற்றில் தற்சமயம் சிறப்பாகக் கருதப் படுவது திருக்குறள் முனுசாமியின் உரை.
தனிமனிதனுக்கு உரிமையானது இன்பவாழ்வு; அதற்குத் துணையாக உள்ளது பொருளியல் வாழ்வு; அவற்றிற்கெல்லாம் அடிப்படையாக விளங்குவது அறவாழ்வு. மனதே எல்லாவற்றிற்கும் ஆதார நிலைக்கலன்; மனத்துக்கண் மாசிலன் ஆதலே அனைத்து அறம்; அறத்தால் வருவதே இன்பம். அறவழியில் நின்று பொருள் ஈட்டி, அதனைக்கொண்டு இன்பவாழ்வு வாழ வேண்டும். அவ்வாறு உலகமாந்தரும் இன்பமுறச் செய்யவேண்டும். பொருளியலாகிய பொதுவாழ்வுக்கும் இன்ப இயலாகிய தனிவாழ்வுக்கும் அடிப்படை அறம்தான் என்பது திருக்குறளின் மொத்தமான நோக்கு.
உலகிலேயே அதிக மொழிகளில் மொழிபெயர்க்கப்பட்டுள்ள நூல்களில் மூன்றாம் இடத்தைத் திருக்குறள் வகிக்கிறது. இதுவரை 80 மொழிகளில் மொழி பெயர்க்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

அவற்றில் பதினென்கீழ்க்கணக்கு எனப்படும் பதினெட்டு நூல்களின் வரிசையில் “முப்பால்” என்னும் பெயரோடு இந்நூல் விளங்குகின்றது.
“அறம், பொருள், இன்பம்”, ஆகிய மூன்று பால்களும் கொண்டமையால் “முப்பால்” எனப் பெயர் பெற்றது. முப்பால்களாகிய ஆகிய இவை ஒவ்வொன்றும் “இயல்” என்னும் பகுதிகளாக மேலும் பகுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. ஒவ்வொரு இயலும் சில குறிப்பிட்ட அதிகாரங்களைக் கொண்டதாக விளங்குகின்றது. ஒவ்வொரு அதிகாரமும் பத்துபாடல்களைத் தன்னுள் அடக்கியது.
இப்பாடல்கள் அனைத்துமே குறள் வெண்பா என்னும் வெண்பா வகையைச் சேர்ந்தவை. இவ்வகை வெண்பாக்களால் ஆகிய அக்காலத்திய முதல் நூலும் ஒரே நூலும் இதுதான்.
குறள் வெண்பாக்களால் ஆனமையால் “குறள்’ என்றும் “திருக்குறள்” என்றும் இது பெயர் பெற்றது.
“பாயிரம்” என்னும் பகுதியுடன் முதலில் “அறத்துப்பால்” வருகிறது. அதிலும் முதலில் காணப்படுவது , “கடவுள் வாழ்த்து” என்னும் அதிகாரம். தொடர்ந்து, “வான் சிறப்பு”, “நீத்தார் பெருமை”, “அறன் வலியுறுத்தல்”, ஆகிய அதிகாரங்கள்.
அடுத்துவரும் “இல்லறவியல்” என்னும் இயலில் 25 அதிகாரங்கள்; அடுத்துள்ள துறவறவியலில் 13 அதிகாரங்களுடன் முதற்பாலாகிய அறத்துப்பால் பகுதி முடிவுறுகிறது.
அடுத்து வரும் “பொருட்பாலி”ல் அரசு இயல், அமைச்சு இயல், ஒழிபு இயல் ஆகிய இயல்கள் இருக்கின்றன. அரசு இயலில் 25 அதிகாரங்கள் உள்ளன. அமைச்சு இயலில் 32 அதிகாரங்களும், ஒழிபு இயலில் 13 அதிகாரங்களும் உள்ளன.
கடைசிப்பாலாகிய “இன்பத்துப்பால்” அல்லது “காமத்துப்பாலி”ல் இரண்டு இயல்கள்; களவியலில் 7 அதிகாரங்களும், கற்பியலில் 18 அதிகாரங்களும் உள்ளன. ஆகமொத்தம் 7 இயல்கள்; 133 அதிகாரங்கள்; 1330 பாடல்கள்.
திருக்குறளை மொத்தம் 12000 சொற்களில் வள்ளுவர் பாடியுள்ளார். ஆனால் இவற்றில் ஐம்பதுக்கும் குறைவான வடசொற்களே உள்ளன.
“அகரம் முதல வெழுத்தெல்லாம் ஆதி
பகவன் முதற்றே யுலகு….”
என்று தமிழ் நெடுங்கணக்கின் முதல் எழுத்தாகிய “அ” வில் ஆரம்பித்து, 1330 ஆம் குறளாகிய,
“ஊடுதல் காமத்திற்கின்பம்; அதற்கின்பம்,
கூடி முயங்கப்பெறின்”
என்று தமிழ் மொழியின் கடைசி எழுத்தாகிய “ன்” னுடன் முடித்திருக்கிறார்.
வாழ்வியலின் எல்லா அங்கங்களையும் திருக்குறள் கூறுவதால், அதைச் சிறப்பித்துப் பல பெயர்களால் அழைப்பர்: திருக்குறள், முப்பால், உத்தரவேதம், தெய்வநூல், பொதுமறை, பொய்யாமொழி, வாயுறை வாழ்த்து, தமிழ் மறை, திருவள்ளுவம் என்ற பெயர்கள் அதற்குரியவை.
பழங்காலத்தில் இதற்குப் பலர் உரை எழுதியுள்ளனர். அவற்றில் புகழ் வாய்ந்ததாக விளங்குவதும் அதிகமாகப் பயன்படுத்தப்பட்டதும் பரிமேலழகர் உரைதான். தற்காலத்திலும் பலர் உரை எழுதியுள்ளனர். அவற்றில் தற்சமயம் சிறப்பாகக் கருதப் படுவது திருக்குறள் முனுசாமியின் உரை.
தனிமனிதனுக்கு உரிமையானது இன்பவாழ்வு; அதற்குத் துணையாக உள்ளது பொருளியல் வாழ்வு; அவற்றிற்கெல்லாம் அடிப்படையாக விளங்குவது அறவாழ்வு. மனதே எல்லாவற்றிற்கும் ஆதார நிலைக்கலன்; மனத்துக்கண் மாசிலன் ஆதலே அனைத்து அறம்; அறத்தால் வருவதே இன்பம். அறவழியில் நின்று பொருள் ஈட்டி, அதனைக்கொண்டு இன்பவாழ்வு வாழ வேண்டும். அவ்வாறு உலகமாந்தரும் இன்பமுறச் செய்யவேண்டும். பொருளியலாகிய பொதுவாழ்வுக்கும் இன்ப இயலாகிய தனிவாழ்வுக்கும் அடிப்படை அறம்தான் என்பது திருக்குறளின் மொத்தமான நோக்கு.
உலகிலேயே அதிக மொழிகளில் மொழிபெயர்க்கப்பட்டுள்ள நூல்களில் மூன்றாம் இடத்தைத் திருக்குறள் வகிக்கிறது. இதுவரை 80 மொழிகளில் மொழி பெயர்க்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

How does it work?
Opera Unite is built into the Opera Web browser. You need to enable and configure it. That's a surprisingly simple process that only takes a few clicks.
To get going, download and install Opera. Start the browser and then select Tools > Opera Unite Server > Enable Opera Unite. This will start a wizard that will walk you through the process. Two things you'll have to do are sign up for a My Opera account and create a name for your computer.
Your Opera user name and computer name identify your PC to the DNS server run by the folks at Opera Software. The DNS server directs all traffic to your Opera Unite server using a specific URL. When you or your friends want to access the Opera Unite server that you're running, you'll type http://yourcomputer.yourname.operaunite.com – for example, http://zen.scottnesbitt.operaunite.com.
If you want to stop Opera Unite, click the Unite icon in the bottom left corner of the browser window and select Stop.
It's all about the applications
You've got Opera Unite running. Now what? The best place to start is with the built-in applications. You can access these applications by clicking the panel button in the top left corner of the Opera window, and then clicking the Opera Unite icon (the third one from the top).
There are six applications bundled with Unite:
* File Sharing – exchange any type of file with your friends and colleagues
* Web Server – host a Web site
* Messenger – exchange text messages with other people in the My Opera community
* Fridge – A collaborative sticky note system
* Media Player – Play the music files on your computer, anywhere you are
* Photo Sharing – Displays a directory of your photos as a gallery
By default, the applications aren't running. You can start them by double-clicking the application in the panel.
Remember that you can make the applications visible to everyone, or just give selected people access. For the latter, Opera Unite assigns the application a password. You might want to change that password – the default is four or five characters. Not the most secure passwords around.
I usually use the File Sharing and Media Player applications the most. But to create your own cloud with Opera Unite, you can install any of the available ones from the Opera Unite Web site. There were only 42 applications out there at the time this TechTip was written, but there probably will be more coming down the pike in the near future.
Applications: interesting and useful
Not every application will be of use to everyone. Here are a few of my favorites.
My business partner and I have different schedules and work in different parts of the city. A lot of our collaboration and brainstorming takes place online. When we brainstorming ideas, the Whiteboard application comes in handy. It lets us sketch out ideas and add corrections or comments. All without getting marker on our hands or shirts.
While the File Sharing application is good, it's download only. I often work away from my home office using a netbook. Running Opera Unite on my main computer with the Document Sync and Document Courier applications, I can exchange files between the computers and synchronize any changes. Sort of like the online file sharing services that were covered in a previous TechTip.
Like everyone else, I have a lot to do. Keeping up with all of those tasks requires a lot of work on my part. The Task Manager application makes that a lot easier. I use it as a simple online to-do list, and often share it with my wife so we both know what we're up to and can fit things into our schedules.
Finally, as someone who co-owns a small business I often have meetings with multiple people: my business partner, people I'm collaborating with, clients and prospective clients. It's tough to nail down a date and time where we can all meet. That's why I find Meet so useful. It's a meeting calendar, but one which allows invitees to vote on the date and time of a meeting. It sure beats juggling a bunch of emails and phone calls .
If you want to install an application, find it at the Opera Unite Web site, (in Opera, of course) and click the Install Application button.
Opera Unite is built into the Opera Web browser. You need to enable and configure it. That's a surprisingly simple process that only takes a few clicks.
To get going, download and install Opera. Start the browser and then select Tools > Opera Unite Server > Enable Opera Unite. This will start a wizard that will walk you through the process. Two things you'll have to do are sign up for a My Opera account and create a name for your computer.
Your Opera user name and computer name identify your PC to the DNS server run by the folks at Opera Software. The DNS server directs all traffic to your Opera Unite server using a specific URL. When you or your friends want to access the Opera Unite server that you're running, you'll type http://yourcomputer.yourname.operaunite.com – for example, http://zen.scottnesbitt.operaunite.com.
If you want to stop Opera Unite, click the Unite icon in the bottom left corner of the browser window and select Stop.
It's all about the applications
You've got Opera Unite running. Now what? The best place to start is with the built-in applications. You can access these applications by clicking the panel button in the top left corner of the Opera window, and then clicking the Opera Unite icon (the third one from the top).
There are six applications bundled with Unite:
* File Sharing – exchange any type of file with your friends and colleagues
* Web Server – host a Web site
* Messenger – exchange text messages with other people in the My Opera community
* Fridge – A collaborative sticky note system
* Media Player – Play the music files on your computer, anywhere you are
* Photo Sharing – Displays a directory of your photos as a gallery
By default, the applications aren't running. You can start them by double-clicking the application in the panel.
Remember that you can make the applications visible to everyone, or just give selected people access. For the latter, Opera Unite assigns the application a password. You might want to change that password – the default is four or five characters. Not the most secure passwords around.
I usually use the File Sharing and Media Player applications the most. But to create your own cloud with Opera Unite, you can install any of the available ones from the Opera Unite Web site. There were only 42 applications out there at the time this TechTip was written, but there probably will be more coming down the pike in the near future.
Applications: interesting and useful
Not every application will be of use to everyone. Here are a few of my favorites.
My business partner and I have different schedules and work in different parts of the city. A lot of our collaboration and brainstorming takes place online. When we brainstorming ideas, the Whiteboard application comes in handy. It lets us sketch out ideas and add corrections or comments. All without getting marker on our hands or shirts.
While the File Sharing application is good, it's download only. I often work away from my home office using a netbook. Running Opera Unite on my main computer with the Document Sync and Document Courier applications, I can exchange files between the computers and synchronize any changes. Sort of like the online file sharing services that were covered in a previous TechTip.
Like everyone else, I have a lot to do. Keeping up with all of those tasks requires a lot of work on my part. The Task Manager application makes that a lot easier. I use it as a simple online to-do list, and often share it with my wife so we both know what we're up to and can fit things into our schedules.
Finally, as someone who co-owns a small business I often have meetings with multiple people: my business partner, people I'm collaborating with, clients and prospective clients. It's tough to nail down a date and time where we can all meet. That's why I find Meet so useful. It's a meeting calendar, but one which allows invitees to vote on the date and time of a meeting. It sure beats juggling a bunch of emails and phone calls .

When the Emperor discovered this defiance, he put Valentine behind bars and he was finally executed on February 14, about 270 AD. For his great service, Valentine was named a saint after his death.
By Middle Ages, Saint Valentine became the patron saint of love and lovers in England and France. In 498 AD, when Pope Gelasius decided to put an end to pagan celebration of Feast of Lupercalia, he declared that 14th February be celebrated as St Valentine's Day.
